Eye Candy: Quebec City Rooftops

Slow news day again, so another pic... I find the rooftops in old cities fascinating. The rooftops in London are a hodgepodge of old chimneys, new devices, various levels and lots of ornamentation. It's similar in Old Quebec and because the city has a distinct upper and lower level, when you're in Haute Ville you can find some interesting views of the rooftops below.
How often do you get to look down on rooftops, anyway?
And, truth be told, it always reminds me of Mary Poppins and Dick Van Dyke dancing with his chimney sweeps on charming rooftops, which seemed like a magical place.
So sue me.

Eye Candy: Lighting Is Everything

This may not be a glamour shot of Vieux Quebec, but I love the soft lighting. No spectacular sunset colours, but the mountains in the distance are highlighted. I also love the softly glowing light in the foreground.
This is taken in front of the Morrin Cultural Centre. Once the city's jail, it's now a museum.
Cheers,
Vanessa

Eye Candy: Quebec Vieux et Nouveau

When you're in a city that's more than 400 years old, you're bound to get juxtapositions like this one. They're not always pretty, but I like this one.
If you're intrigued as to where in Vieux Quebec I took this, Place Royale is at the bottom of the stairs.

Eye Candy: French Kiss

It happens every year... during the last week of July, news begins to dry up. Then in the first week of August, it disappears.
Those two weeks are the most popular for summer vacations, I've heard, so I guess it's no coincidence.
And it's a good reminder that we need to sit back, slow down and just relax every once in awhile.
So, in light of the fact that not much is shaking and in the spirit of relaxing and enjoying, I offer you more Eye Candy.
I took this pic in Quebec City last month and was focused on capturing the sloping street. It wasn't until I was reviewing my pics that I noticed the kissing couple. Parfait!
Cheers,
Vanessa

Eye Candy: Quebec City Levels

Well, I haven't finished posting Ottawa pics but, in the meantime, I enjoyed a first: a mother-daughter trip. We explored Old Quebec for 5 days in early July and enjoyed every moment of it.
If you've never visited this UNESCO world heritage site, do so. Simply amazing.
There are breathtaking sights around every corner and it's packed with tourists from all over the world.
As close to Europe as you'll get in Canada.
Enjoy!
