Tafelmusik Christmas Concerts

We have a renowned baroque music orchestra in our midst. Lucky or what?
Tafelmusik performs Handel's Messiah every year and lately they've been doing it in Koerner Hall at the Royal Conservatory of Music, which is within walking distance.
Double lucky!
A truly marvellous experience is trucking down to the annual, always-sold-out, sing-along Messiah at Massey Hall. This year it's on the 23rd.
Closer to home -- and at its usual home -- this weekend the group is celebrating the season with French Baroque Christmas at Trinity St. Paul's at 427 Bloor St. West.

Tafelmusik's Sing-Along Messiah

Every year at Massey Hall, baroque music orchestra Tafelmusik hosts a Sing-Along Messiah.

I haven't been able to attend since it switched dates to the Sunday prior to Christmas, but I've been in the past and it is an incredible experience.

It's one thing to watch a music performance and it's another to be immersed in it, with everyone around you singing, feeling the vibration of so many voices passing through you and over you to mingle into one, massive, glorious sound that fills a magnificent space.

No wonder it sells out every year.

So if you want to go on Dec. 19th, you'd better order your tickets now.

Also, if singing along is not your style, you can attend Messiah performances in our neighbourhood at Trintity-St. Paul's, home to Tafelmusik.
