Cherry Blossom Countdown

Well, the blooms may be out in both Washington and New York, but our cherry blossoms are

going to be delayed this year due to the harsh winter.
It's time to remind you again that there is a website devoted to keeping Torontonians informed about High Park's cherry trees and their Spring awakening.
I'm keeping an eye on it and hope to catch the beauties in full bloom this year!

Eye Candy: Cherry Blossoms

I was waiting for a grey, rainy day to share this with you. I snuck in a visit to High Park to see the sakura in bloom. It's a necessary annual ritual for me.
Turns out my "good" camera is a little off, which accounts for the odd colour tones in this pic. But I can't say that I dislike it!

The Cherry Blossoms Are Coming...

I have felt and smelt spring during the past week. Hallelujah! And when the clocks go forward tonight and it's brighter at dinner time tomorrow? Who hoo!
I also have veg seedlings on the go, which reminds me that I'll be planting them in my yard soon enough.
Anyway, when thoughts of Spring enter my mind, mental images of the High Park cherry blossoms are never far behind.
If you anticipate the blooming beauties as much as I do, be sure to check out the High Park cherry blossom watch page.
According to the High Park Nature Centre, which hosts the page, "peak bloom" lasts about a week and in recent years has been as early as April 13th and as late as May 10th.
Let the countdown begin....

Eye Candy: Spring Cherry Blossoms

I'm not sure if I have shared this pic with you in the past and, frankly, I don't care!
After yesterday, I smell Spring in the air, even if today is rather dreary.

So I'm going to keep that Spring feeling alive with this photo of High Park's legendary cherry blossoms. They usually don't bloom til May, but who knows this year?

Had a most delightful Mother's Day taking in the sakura in High Park and enjoying a picnic with a lovely view of the cherry blossoms.

High Park Cherry Blossoms

One of the out-of-neighbourhood things that I Blog about is the High Park cherry blossoms.

I'm not the only one hotly anticipating their annual, lovely, white-and-delicate appearance. In fact, the High Park Nature Centre Blog has regular updates about the brief blooms.

The blossoms are late this year and Mother's Day is early, so it looks as though the two may coincide.

I couldn't think of a lovelier Mother's Day outing than a walk in the park for a sakura viewing.
