Bill Bolton Arena Christmas Skating Party Saturday from 1 pm to 4 pm

It is the season of celebration! And one thing that The Annex and Seaton Village should celebrate is having a covered ice hockey arena in the neighbourhood.
They are rare and wonderful commodities in Toronto now.
So, skaters, celebrate your community AND the season this Saturday from 1 pm to 4 pm during Bill Bolton Arena's annual Christmas Skating Party.

Bill Bolton Arena

I've noticed that a lot of people in our area play hockey at Bill Bolton Arena. I can't skate very well (how unCanadian is that?), but I can appreciate a neighbourhood gem when I hear about one.
For those of you who do skate, Bill Bolton also hosts regular, free-of-charge, public skate times, plus parties for Hallowe'en and Christmas.

Family Day Skate at Bill Bolton Arena

Well, it turns out that in addition to Olivia Chow's Family Day Skating Party at Christie Pits and the Valentine's Day Sibelius Square Skate, there's also a Family Day Skate at Bill Bolton Arena today.
Hope you got your blades sharpened!
Head to Bill Bolton Arena today from 2 pm to 4:15 pm to skate and drink hot chocolate with your neighbours. And BYOM (bring your own mug.)

There are two ways to have on Monday with blades strapped to your feet: at Christie Pits rink with MP Olivia Chow and at the Family Day Skate at Bill Bolton arena.

Attention neighbourhood skaters: Monday marks the first annual Family Day Skating Party at Bill Bolton arena. (For some reason, the map says it's in East York, but we know better than that, don't we?)

So strap on those blades and join your neighbours for some good, clean fun from 2 to 4 pm.

Facebook Page Devoted To Opposing The City Takeover Of Bill Bolton

The city's plan to take over skating rinks affects our very own Bill Bolton Arena, long a hub of the Seaton Village and Western Annex communities.

There is a Facebook page devoted to opposing the takeover. And I quote:
"Toronto's city council wants to take over management of Bill Bolton Arena - a move that could threaten current programming, including all the adult leagues that have been there for years. This is a move rooted in politics rather than common sense."
Thought I'd let you know about this virtual community with connections to our very real community.
