Toronto is known as a "city of parks" and our Trinity Spadina ward, Ward 20, certainly has its fair share, despite being very central.
In his latest newsletter, Councillor Adam Vaughan mentioned a new feature on his website:
"If you have visited the Community Maps section of our website recently – you may have noticed new “green dots” identifying our local parks. I want to thank all of the parks enthusiasts in Ward 20 who provided photos and information about each park. These photographs, histories and improvement plans are now accessible on our website.
To view the entries, go to http://www.ward20.ca/ and choose the “community map” for your neighbourhood. The “green dot” feature on the maps is interactive – when you click on a green dot detailed information about that specific park will display.
Believe it or not, Ward 20 is home to 53 parks and parkettes.
This Parks Initiative is a companion to the Planning Initiative for Ward 20 which is already underway. Compiling this information was a first step. Our goal is create a communication strategy to share ideas and information about our parks as a way to facilitate greater community participation to address local needs in our parks.
Early in the Spring of 2010 we will be in touch to invite you and your neighbours to a general Community Meeting on Parks."
Cheers,
Vanessa
