This weekend marks the opening of the NFB documentary Waterlife, which The Star calls "ambitious and artful" and which won the Hot Docs 2009 Special Jury Prize. The film documents the precariousness of the health of the world's largest fresh water reserve, our Great Lakes.
Area resident and Waterlife director Kevin McMahon is due to be on hand June 5 at the 6:50 pm showing at the Varsity, along with Great Lakes United Executive Director, Derek Stack.
A film’s distribution across Canada is very dependent on its opening weekend attendance, so if you're a believer in the cause of saving the great lakes, try to go this weekend. Please spread the word, too.
