Hand Sanitizer Can Be Poisonous For Children

If you're like me, you receive certain "warnings" via email regularly. Usually a quick review of Snopes.com, or a similar email-myth-debunking site, proves the "warning" to be completely off the mark.
However, an email warning I received recently (thanks Elizabeth!) about hand sanitizer being poisonous for young children proved to be true AND Elizabeth helpfully provided the Snopes.com link, no doubt being the recipient herself of many "warning" emails.

According to the Snopes write up, even an ounce or two of ingested hand sanitizer could be fatal to a toddler. Who knew?
Of course, anyone who's ever had a toddler doesn't have to ask why a child would eat the stuff... I shudder to think of the list of things I've seen toddlers "explore" with their mouths. And it generally smells appealing even though, no doubt, it doesn't taste so great.
So please spread the word far and wide! I've noticed a proliferation of hand sanitizer in the wake of H1N1 and it never would have occured to me to keep it out of reach of a toddler.
