Hm. Well, Dave Bidini is visiting Toronto's parks and writing about them.
Here's his take on St. Alban's Square.
Happy reading!

Penthouse For Sale
The National Post features a tasty little two-level, 2+1 bedroom penthousee condo for sale on Brunswick.
Like many condos of its ilk, it has three bathrooms. Can someone explain that to me? I've never understood why someone would need more bathrooms than bedrooms. Can it get more first-world than that?
But I digress... asking price? $1.635 million.
Cheers,
Vanessa

South Annex Restaurants
"South Annex" is a term that's new-ish to me. It seems to refer to the area south of us around Harbord and perhaps even encompasses Kensington Market.
Whether it's a new term cooked up by a creative Realtor, or has a more legitimate history, it seems an appropriate moniker for the lovely area.
I've certainly noticed, and Blogged about, the proliferation of good restaurants on Harbord in the past several years. The National Post published a story about several of them last week.
Cheers,
Vanessa

South Annex
I've been away, as you may have guessed. And unplugged and enjoying it. I was in the country and enjoyed the recharge. Pics to follow.
In the meantime, I apologize for abandoning you and I offer you this National Post story about the South Annex. It's a lovely area and the write up does it justice.
Cheers,
Vanessa

Vaughan vs. Ford Re: Annex Area Speed Limits
The National Post wrote up a Ford hissy fit re: our city councillor Adam Vaughan's proposal to reduce speed limits in the western part of the Annex.
No surprise that those two are butting heads, especially about any issue that Ford puts into the "war on the car" category.
Do I support reduced speed limits on our streets? As someone who bikes and has near misses with some frequency; as someone who escorted her children to Palmerston PS for many years and snatched them out of the way of heedless, speeding cars more than once; and as someone who was hit by a turning truck (while I was crossing on a green light), I say "yes."
Resoundingly.

One Writer's View of The Annex...
Sometimes it's interesting to discover what other people think about you, if only as an amusement. Dave Bidini wrote a satirical article in the National Post about selling subway naming rights and this is what he had to say about our area:
"Bathurst station, near the heart of the Annex, could approach the Transient Nanny Association of the Philippines for partnering, or perhaps the Coping with Excessive Latte Consumption Foundation of Canada. Considering the number of SUVs in the neighbourhood, the Guiltless Carbon Footprint Businessmen’s Guild might want to get behind this one, as would the “I Love My Alternatively-Schooled and Exquisitely-Talented Child” Society of Greater Urbania."
I can only cop to fitting one of these descriptors. What about you?
Cheers,
Vanessa
