Scandinavian Mystery Writers

What is it about Scandinavia that it produces such an illustrious crop of mystery writers? And I'm not just talking about the Millenium/Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series.
Does it stem from what my Swedish relatives call "the Swedish melancholia?" (pronounced with a most charming accent, of course.) Is it the long, long winters?
Whatever it is, Scandinavian mystery writers are the subject of a January 14th talk at the Palmerston Public Library.
Here's the scoop: "Join Robert Douglas from Critics at Large for a lively discussion on the allure of Scandinavian mysteries, including film and TV adaptation."

It's free-of-charge and runs from 7 pm to 8:15 pm.
Cheers,
Vanessa
