Grasping economic concepts can be a daunting task. However, I think most of us realize by now that trickle down economics benefits only the rich in the United States.
The Occupy and two-percent movements are proof that a lot of us realize that the system is broken. We've felt it at the grassroots level as we witness people struggling to pay bills as they are offered the "opportunity" of unpaid internships, or they take several "McJobs" at the same time in order to get by financially.
Don't get me wrong! I don't think there's anything wrong with starting at the bottom and working your way up. However, the up slope is getting greasier and greasier these days, oiled by the machinations of big business and conservative governments.
So, even with that being my point of view, I was gobsmacked when I watched this presentation about wealth distribution south of the border; I'm sure that it's not that much different in Canada, either.
It's well worth less than seven minutes of your time; trust me.
Cheers,
Vanessa
