Word On The Street Is That Word On The Street Is Tomorrow!

Get your bike oiled up, or strap on those runners: tomorrow is Word On The Street at Queen's Park Circle from 11 am to 6 pm.
Even if you don't buy anything, it's fabulous to get out and about; mingle; fondle books; and soak up the sights and sounds of so many bibliophiles in one place.
Add in crisp autumn air; no admission price; the smells of food stalls and you have one terrific outing.
See you there!
Vanessa

PS it's a great place to find bargain gifts!

Word on the Street Sunday

Sometimes I go and I don't even buy anything... but I never regret going. I suppose I just like the vibe of an outdoor space and event devoted solely to reading and books.
If you do, too, then this is your official reminder that Word on the Street happens Sunday.
Cheers,
Vanessa
PS can't help but wonder how these events will morph with the advent of eBooks?

Seaton Village Resident Selling Books At Word On The Street

I love going to The Word On the Street, which is this Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm.
The celebration of the written word has grown immensely from when it was first held on Queen St. West 21 years ago and it's now comfortably settled into its massive home at Queen's Park.
It's within easy walking/biking/tubing distance, there are a ton of readings and many, many, many book bargains.
This year the literature lovefest will include Seaton Village resident Martha Davis, who will be selling two children's books she co-wrote with her daughter, The Maples Mix 'em Up! and The Maples on the Move! (The picture is from one of the books.) They'll be at booth
KS13 on Kidstreet, which is on Wellesley St. W, facing north into the park.
So get out, mingle, buy, celebrate writing and say "hi" to Martha and Molly on Sunday.
Cheers,
Vanessa

Word On The Street

Not sure what rock I've been living under, but I just realized that The Word On The Street is tomorrow.
I remember when it was much smaller and took place on a closed-to-traffic Queen Street West, but even then it was crowded.
I always find some good bargains, but it's also fun to go just to enjoy the lovely location, which is now Queen's Park.
There's always lots going on, too.
Admission is free, so even if you only have time to just pop in for an hour, it's worth it. After an hour or two I generally have so many books that I have to head home, anyway.
Cheers,
Vanessa
