Proposed Development On Bathurst

Morning all!
I have some news that will thrill some of you and horrify others.
There is a proposal to build a six-storey apartment building at 1000-1002 Bathurst, on the west side, north of Olive.
I say, "yeah!"
Bathurst from Bloor to Dupont has some pretty sorry looking stretches and this is one of them... in fact, let's call them what they are: embarrassingly sketchy stretches. Both Bathurst and Dupont, the latter of which has been experiencing a bit of a revitalization lately, should be thriving, busy thoroughfares lined with attractive apartment buildings and businesses.
The particular stretch of Bathurst at 1000-1002 is within walking distance to two subway stations, is beside a bus route and is within walking distance of parks, libraries, shopping, restaurants and countless services and amenities.
And that's exactly where housing should be intensified.
I sincerely hope that no one squawks about this development merely because it represents change. Take a look at that stretch of Bathurst; change can be nothing but good for it. Ditto for squawking because of momentary annoyances while construction takes place; the city must change to thrive and not all change is bad.
A thriving, evolving neighbourhood that is going up, not down, can only be good for its current residents, despite temporary inconveniences.
Of course everyone near it will want to ensure that the new building is a reasonable fit with the surrounding neighbourhood.
If you want to keep apprised of the situation, or have your say in any way, you can contact Rebecca Hewitt, Adam Vaughan's Constituency Assistant. If you prefer phone contact, the number is 416-392-4044.
Cheers,
Vanessa
