It's entertaining for both myself and my cats to watch.
If small things such as this don't amuse you, too, you have three events that you can attend with your carved orange veggies in tow on November 1st. Technically, none of them take place in The Annex, but they certainly ring our 'hood.
The Seaton Village Pumpkin Patch takes place Sunday from 5 pm to 9 pm at Vermont Square Park (Palmerston & Olive avenues).
Area residents can drop off their pumpkins from noon to 4 pm at the southwest part of the park, then come back when it's dark to see them lit up in an "eerie display" that you can walk through.
Be sure to bring along a mug for free cider and hot chocolate.
The Harbord Street Pumpkin Festival is on Sunday, also. Bring your carved beauty to Harbord between Spadina Avenue and Borden Street any time from 2:30 to 5:30 pm.

The gourds are lit up from 5:30 pm to 9 pm, the pedestrian street lights are turned off and the judging begins.
Also, "Celebrity Pumpkins" designed for the Hospital for Sick Children special auction will be on display.
The third option is the Friends of Christie Pits Pumpkin Parade on -- you guessed it! -- Sunday at 6 pm.

Bring your pumpkin and its candle to the south side of the park and be prepared to enjoy a lovely display, a campfire, toasted marshmallows and a stroll through the lit-up pumpkins.
Enjoy!
