Icefest Feb 21 and 22 in Yorkville

It may not be until next weekend, but the frigid temperatures remind me that Icefest 2015 takes place Feb 21 and 22 in Bloor-Yorkville.
Here's the scoop about the tenth annual event: 'Toronto’s premier cultural district will celebrate this landmark year by transforming into a showcase of incredible ice sculptures and live ice carving demonstrations for the entire family to enjoy.

This year, Bloor-Yorkville will be bringing the past back to life in ice with a “Frozen in Time” ancient Egyptian-inspired showcase of striking carvings. From King Tut, to two Pharaohs, an Anubis, an Iris with a Clock and Egyptian Gods, crafted from an astonishing 20,000 lbs. of ice."
So bundle up and enjoy!
Cheers,
Vanessa

Art Gallery Hop Saturday

Local artist Deb Wiles is organizing art gallery tours. Some are for singles, some are for couples and they sometimes include dinner and drinks afterward. In other words, a little something for everyone.
Saturday from 2 to 5 pm there is a Singles Gallery Hop through Yorkville.
Enjoy!

Ice Festival In Yorkville

Although the mercury is climbing to a balmy five degrees today, on-our-doorstep Yorkville is home to an Icefest Festival this weekend.
Ice carving demonstrations get underway at 1 pm today and you can peruse the work of sculptors who have chiselled, picked and sawed frozen creations.
Enjoy,
Vanessa

Power Outage In Annex Due To Burst Water Main

Shades of winters past... a large chunk of the Annex, Yorkville and areas surrounding it are without power right now and will remain so indefinitely.
A burst water main is the culprit and there is no estimated time for getting it fixed.
Is it just me or is this happening more and more?
