Eye Candy: Tunnel To...

When my freelance business is slow, I work at U of T. One of the best parts about it is biking or walking to work through the lovely campus. I've discovered a few hidden spots -- treasures, really -- of architecture and delight. There are quite a few little oases of quiet on what can be a bustling campus. This is one of them and it reminds me very much, of course, of British universities and/or Hogwarts.
I'm not going to tell you where it is... that would sort of defeat the purpose, wouldn't it? But I will recommend this: make some time in your life to just wander around U of T on a lovely day; no agenda, no map, no time limit.
Why? Because it's always good to remember that "not everyone who wanders is lost."

U of T Farmer's Market and Local Food Festival

After a break, the U of T Farmer's Market is back. Though not in our area, it is within easy walking/biking distance behind the Earth Sciences building.

The market sets up every Wednesday from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

There also is a Field to Fork Local Food Festival Wednesday from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm on the newly pedestrian friendly stretch of Willcocks Street. It will feature local farmers and entertainment.

Eye Candy: Sumptious Detail

I've been working at U of T lately and enjoy a lovely walk or bike ride through the campus every a.m.

I wanted to take some Eye Candy pictures but the weather wasn't co-operating. Until this week, that is.
This will be the first in a series. I wanted to begin with this image because it's so rich in architectural detail.

Carillon Recital

I found about a series of Carillon Recitals late, but there's one left... Wed Aug 26 from 5 to 6 pm carillonneur Michael Hart will perform for free in a lovely location near Hart House.
Here's the details:
"Listeners will be able to watch the carillonneur play via closed circuit TV set up at the base of the Soldiers’ Tower. After the recital, the carillon room and the Memorial Room will be open to visitors. Free and open to the public. Location: Outside at base of Soldiers' Tower, located beside Hart House."
