Hallowe'en Happenings

Hallowe'en draws near! It's been very "atmospheric" this autumn, conjuring up the perfect
Hallowe'en mindset.
If you want to celebrate on skates, head to Bill Bolton Arena in Vermont Square Park Saturday from 5 to 7 pm. The annual Hallowe'en Skating party takes place and includes prizes for best costume.
Friday night, St. Alban's Boys and Girls' Club -- right beside Bill Bolton -- screens Frankenweenie. Hosted by Sistahood and Girls on the Move, the film shows from 7 to 9 pm.
In keeping with tradition, St. Alban's also features its annual Haunted House on the spooky night itself from 5 to 9 pm.
For the older people in the crowd, the Bloor Cinema has kept its tradition (thankfully!) of showing the Rocky Horror Picture Show twice on Hallowe'en, both times featuring a "shadow cast." (Both web write ups are confusing, but it seems to be playing at 7 AND 10 pm.)
Cheers,
Vanessa
PS Is the Nov 1st Pumpkin Patch happening at Vermont Square this year?

Rocky Horror Picture Show with "Shadow Cast"

What is it about the Rocky Horror Picture Show?
The 1975 cult classic movie seems to capture the imagination of generation after generation. I remember taking in some of the monthly screenings at the Roxy on Danforth many, many moons ago.

Traditions evolve, of course. While people threw toast at the screen and tossed confetti back in the day, a full-blown Toronto Shadow Cast " will be performing their own satirical, comedic version of the film for audiences during the show" when it screens at the Bloor Cinema Friday at 11:15 pm.
Cheers,
Vanessa
