We spent Christmas at my sister's farm. While the ice storms/cold/snowstorms wreaked havoc with a lot of people's travel/Holiday plans, they also coated the countryside in a sparkling, stunning layer of crystal and white.
On Christmas Day, my family was able to walk across snowy fields without snowshoes; there was a layer of ice covering everything.
Because every branch and stalk was coated, too, and the sun came out, the whole world turned into a shining, crystalline wonderland.
It was quite magical.
