I find vegetables challenging -- not cooking them, but cooking them to make them a bit, well... fancy.
One day the Metro at Spadina and Bloor had French green beans for sale, so I grabbed a pack. I'm not sure what makes them "French," but I can tell you that they're skinnier than normal green beans -- and more expensive.I found this recipe on the Food Network site, applied it to my newly found haricots and, ooh la la! Very yummy.
It strikes me that they would make a great, fancy-ish yet easy side dish for a Holiday meal.

PS I tried the recipe with "normal" green beans. Not nearly as special-tasting!
