Pumpkin Parades November 1st

The pumpkins are out in abundance! I love them, along with gnarled, bumpy gourds. I even made my first pumpkin pie from scratch this year.
All of which reminds me of a new-ish, lovely tradition of November 1st "pumpkin parade" at various parks around the city. People bring their pumpkins to a park, relight them and enjoy the sight of multiple plump orange gourds aglow, not to mention neighbourly camaraderie.

The traditions seems to have started in Sorauren park seven years ago and although there were rumblings of it being cancelled this year because city staff wouldn't commit to cleaning up the pumpkins, saner heads have prevailed.
In our area, there is a Harbord Street Pumpkin Festival and there usually is one at Vermont Square park, as well, though I can't find official word of it yet.
Cheers,
Vanessa
