Glamping

Nothing neighbourhood-related today... still summery slow in the news department.
While planning our recent summer vacation, I debated between camping or renting a cheap cottage. During that time, I bandied about the term "glamping," which is short for "glamorous camping."
My family had never heard of it.
Then shortly after we returned from our week away at a cottage, I spied this TOLife article about glamping and shared it with them.
It occurs to me that you might not have heard the term, either.
Here's my two cents: I think part of the beauty of camping, going to a cottage, etc. is to rough it. I think it's good to get a bit dirty, to have to do without all the modern toys of convenience, to sit around a fire for warmth instead of flicking a switch on a furnace.
Plus I was raised in a household where preciousness and being a tenderfoot was frowned upon.
But that's just me... some of the "toys" in the TOLife article might appeal to some of you.
Cheers,

Vanessa
