Screening of Taste The Waste Wednesday

Taste The Waste (screening)
There will be a screening of the documentary Taste The Waste Wednesday, followed by a discussion.
It begins at 7 pm in the OISE auditorium at 252 Bloor St. West. Here are more details:
"The Zeitgeist Toronto chapter announces the premiere of the documentary Taste the Waste by Valentin Thurn .A documentary about the worldwide destruction of food. Why do we throw away so much? And how can we stop this kind of waste?
Amazing but true: On the way from the ...farm to the dining-room table, more than half the food lands on the dump. Most of it before it ever reaches consumers. For instance every other head of lettuce or potato.
We are talking about perfectly edible food that gets pulled off supermarket shelves, some of it still in the original packaging with the 'best before'/'sell by' date not yet expired! The store can no longer make a profit on it. So it lands in the trash.
There will be Q & A section with the Panelists :
Jo-Anne Sobie - Executive Director of Second Harvest
Helene St. Jacques - Chair of Toronto Food Policy Council
Wally Seccombe - Chair of Everdale Environmental Learning Centre
Jacob Kearey-Moreland - Founder of Occupy Gardens and his own Wiki-farm
Michelle Coyne - PhD Candidate specializing in Food Waste and Organizer of Food Not Bombs
Pay What You Can ."

Cheers,
Vanessa
