The Sparrow Songs: A Country Song String

We certainly have talented neighbours in our area! And yet another one, Tom Bellman, is involved in the Summerworks Theatre Festival.

"Dear friends,
I'd like to invite you to attend a performance of a musical I co-wrote. It's called "The Sparrow Songs: A Country Song String" and will be performed at the Summerworks Theatre Festival in Toronto on Thursday, August 11 at 7 PM at the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art (Art Bar), 952 Queen St. W. near Shaw. The show is pay-what-you-can, so no need to reserve tickets.
A
bout 2 years ago Barbara Nichol (humorist, writer and author of, among other things, "Beethoven Lives Upstairs") and I began writing songs together. I'm very proud of the show and its 20 original songs, and I'm telling as many people as I can...
The cast consists of Barbara, who will narrate, and four wonderful singers: Andy Maize (lead singer of the SkyDiggers), Scarlett Flynn (Running Red Lights), David Rodenburg (my former music school roommate and a fabulous singer) and the sublime Aviva Rajsky, with whom I have been performing periodically for the past year.
We also have a fantastic band consisting of Aidan Mason on fiddle and mandolin (played guitar in Anne Murray's band for 30 years), Aaron Goldstein on pedal steel (Kathleen Edwards, Cowboy Junkies), Tim Posgate on banjo, Neil Gardiner on keyboards, Kevin Howley on drums and bass (not at the same time), and yours truly on guitar...
Oh, if it's raining really hard don't come... the show is outdoors.
My fond regards,
Tom"
Cheers,
Vanessa
