Plaque Honouring Jack and Lynne Dominico Unveiled At Christie Pits Tomorrow

Christie Pits park at Christie and Bloor is a well-storied and well-used green space in our lovely city.

It's hopping all year round and it's often bustling with baseball players, including DS. The history of baseball at our largest local green space is long and storied in and of itself. The city is going to honour that history tomorrow by renaming a baseball field in the park Dominico field. Here's the official scoop from the city of Toronto:

"Deputy Mayor Joe Pantalone (Ward 19 Trinity-Spadina), Intercounty Baseball League Commissioner Joe O’Neill and Damon Topoli of the Toronto Maple Leafs baseball club will be joined by Jack Dominico and family members at a ceremony to unveil the park sign that will bear his and late wife Lynne’s name. The event will include an official ceremony followed by a baseball game.

Date: Sunday, May 9

Time: 1:30 p.m. (ceremony)

Location: Main baseball diamond, Christie Pits Park, 750 Bloor St. W.

Jack and Lynne Dominico acquired the Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club in 1969. In the 41 seasons since then, the club has won eight championships and 20 pennant titles.
Christie Pits has been home to the Toronto Maple Leafs baseball club throughout its impressive history and every year Mr. Dominico continues the tradition of bringing former major league baseball players to the opening game and hosting a banquet for fans the night before the game.

Considering Jack and Lynne’s contribution to the local community and to the City of Toronto, and their dedication to the club and amateur baseball in Ontario, the City of Toronto will name the main diamond in Christie Pits in their honour."
