Fresh Tomato Sauce On Pasta

We all have them: stand by recipes. A recipe that you can whip out when company's coming and know that it will dazzle.
My preferred ones are those that dazzle without being daunting. Twice as good!
Here's one that never fails to impress and it's vegetarian friendly:
-- onion (one onion for every four tomatoes, roughly)
-- fresh garlic (one clove for every three tomatoes, roughly)
-- fresh tomatoes (about one per serving)
-- black ground pepper
-- fresh basil
-- your favourite pasta
-- fresh parmesan

Chop the onions and mince the garlic. Saute a few minutes over medium heat until soft; about 2 - 3 minutes.
Dice the tomatoes and add to the sauce. (Of course, the fresher and juicier tomatoes, the better).
Saute until tender and some of the liquid cooks off; at least 10 minutes.
Pour over your favourite cooked pasta; top with chopped fresh basil and fresh grated Parmesan.
Serve with a crusty baguette and enjoy!
Cheers,
Vanessa
PS I would love to receive people's stand by recipes, both to post them and to use them.
