Are You On Twitter?

Well, I fully admit that I had to be talked into joining Twitter. But now I'm hooked! I'm on there as vring.

Why join?
The concept behind Twitter is to answer a simple question in 140 characters or less and the question is What Are You Doing? Of course, people stray from that parameter all the time, but that just makes Twitter more interesting.
Generally I tweet about an interesting tidbit, i.e. "Knit a poem? Sounds interesting: http://www.poetrysociety.org.uk/content/knit".

Depending on who you follow, it's less about navel gazing -- and reading about other people's belly button lint -- and more about keeping up with what's going on instantaneously.
Who do I follow on Twitter? (Meaning, whose tweets do I read?)
Well, I follow Mayor Miller, the TTC (travel updates), some social media gurus, a few friends, a trivia site, The Toronto Star and The New York Times -- you get the idea.

It's a little odd getting started, so I recommend that you don't go into the Twittersphere alone: find a good "how to" guide online first.

Cheers,
Vanessa
